Sarah Kull, LCSW
Parenthood, Life Transitions, and Trauma Therapist
Life can look "fine" from the outside while feeling overwhelming on the inside. Many of the women I work with are juggling careers, relationships, parenting responsibilities, and the invisible mental load that comes with trying to hold everything together. They are often the person everyone else depends on, yet they struggle to find space for their own needs.
I provide therapy for women navigating anxiety, stress, motherhood, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can slow down, better understand yourself, and develop practical tools to feel more grounded and confident in your daily life.
I offer in-person therapy in Barrington, Illinois, and virtual therapy throughout Illinois.
Who I Work With
I work with adults who may be experiencing:
Generalized anxiety and chronic worry
Stress and overwhelm
Perfectionism and people-pleasing
Motherhood and parenting challenges
Pregnancy and postpartum adjustment
Relationship concerns
Life transitions
Depression and low motivation
Burnout
Difficulty setting boundaries
Loss of identity after becoming a parent
Self-esteem and confidence concerns
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling exhausted from constantly trying to meet everyone else's needs while neglecting their own. Together, we work to create healthier patterns that support both your wellbeing and your relationships.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe therapy should feel collaborative, supportive, and practical.
My style is warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth. I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are without judgment. Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply unsure of your next steps, we'll work together to understand what is contributing to your distress and identify meaningful ways forward.
I draw from evidence-based approaches including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps identify unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, depression, and self-doubt. Together, we'll learn how to challenge those thoughts and develop more balanced ways of responding.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT focuses on helping you move toward the life you want to live, even when difficult thoughts and emotions are present. Rather than fighting your feelings, we'll work on building flexibility and resilience.
Mindfulness-Based and Somatic Strategies
Mindfulness and somatic strategies can help reduce anxiety, improve emotional regulation, and increase awareness of patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
Strengths-Based Therapy
I believe every client brings strengths into the therapy room. Together, we'll identify and build upon those strengths while developing new skills and perspectives.
What Therapy With Me Looks Like
During our work together, you can expect:
A nonjudgmental and supportive environment
Practical tools you can use between sessions
A collaborative approach to goal setting
Space to explore difficult emotions
Evidence-based treatment tailored to your needs
Encouragement to make changes at a pace that feels manageable
My goal is not to tell you what to do. Instead, I help you better understand yourself, strengthen your coping skills, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
Education and Training
